What Is Foam Cut to Size?
Foam cut to size is made-to-measure foam produced to the shape and dimensions you provide. It can be used for replacement cushions, seating, mattresses, packaging, acoustic applications and many other domestic, commercial and specialist projects.
Compare Foam Grades
Compare the available foam grades by firmness, density and intended use. The best option depends on whether the foam is for seating, back cushions, mattresses, packaging or another application.
Foam density relates mainly to the amount of material within the foam and its expected durability, while firmness describes how soft or supportive it feels. Actual performance can vary between foam grades.
Not sure which foam you need?
Choose the application below. This uses the same recommendation data as the live foam cut-to-size quote selector.
Select your chosen foam grade in the quote form when ordering.
These recommendations are generated from the same application guide as the quote page. Final availability and suitability depend on the selected shape, thickness and dimensions. Specialist foams may only be available in particular shapes or thicknesses.
Average (Soft) Foam
Light density foam suitable for headboards, crafts, costumes, and general use. We do not recommend this grade for any seating application.
Medium Foam
Medium density foam suitable for domestic seating cushions of 4" (10cm) or more in thickness. An ideal replacement for fibre filled cushions.
High Firm Foam
High density, quality, seating grade foam, suitable for many applications including quality sofa and upholstery seat cushions, boats, caravan bunks/seats, dining chairs and camper vans. The most popular and best seating foam for cushions with thickness between 3" and 4" (7.5-10cm). For thicknesses over 4" (10cm) we recommend Medium, or better, Reflex Superior medium foam.
Severe Very Firm Foam
Very high density seating grade foam suitable for cushions that are less than 3" (7.5cm) in thickness. Uses include window seats, quality dining chairs, and vehicle restoration projects. This grade of foam is widely used in the automotive industry and for mobility aids for example wheelchair cushions.
Reconstituted Foam
Reconstituted or commonly known as Recon is a contract seating foam used for wheelchair seats, church kneelers, bar seating, bar stools and many packaging applications.
Available in normal 6 pound and in a 9 pound heavier denser type.

Replacement Sofa Cushion Foam
Replacing worn sofa cushion inserts can restore comfort, support and shape without replacing the whole piece of furniture. Enter the cushion measurements, choose the appropriate foam grade and add optional stockinette or Dacron wrap where required. For a complete measuring, supply and refill service, visit our foam cushion refill service.
What is stockinette used for?
Stockinette is a thin fabric sleeve fitted around foam cushions. It helps the foam slide more easily into a cushion cover and can reduce friction between the foam and the fabric.
What is Dacron wrap used for?
Dacron wrap is a soft polyester layer fitted around upholstery foam. It helps cushions look fuller, softens the edges and can make the finished cushion easier to fit into its cover.
