What Is Foam Cut to Size?

Foam cut to size is made-to-measure foam produced to the shape and dimensions you provide. It can be used for replacement cushions, seating, mattresses, packaging, acoustic applications and many other domestic, commercial and specialist projects.

Compare Foam Grades

Compare the available foam grades by firmness, density and intended use. The best option depends on whether the foam is for seating, back cushions, mattresses, packaging or another application.

Foam density relates mainly to the amount of material within the foam and its expected durability, while firmness describes how soft or supportive it feels. Actual performance can vary between foam grades.

Not sure which foam you need?

Choose the application below. This uses the same recommendation data as the live foam cut-to-size quote selector.

These recommendations are generated from the same application guide as the quote page. Final availability and suitability depend on the selected shape, thickness and dimensions. Specialist foams may only be available in particular shapes or thicknesses.

Replacement Sofa Cushion Foam

Replacing worn sofa cushion inserts can restore comfort, support and shape without replacing the whole piece of furniture. Enter the cushion measurements, choose the appropriate foam grade and add optional stockinette or Dacron wrap where required. For a complete measuring, supply and refill service, visit our foam cushion refill service.

What is stockinette used for?

Stockinette is a thin fabric sleeve fitted around foam cushions. It helps the foam slide more easily into a cushion cover and can reduce friction between the foam and the fabric.

What is Dacron wrap used for?

Dacron wrap is a soft polyester layer fitted around upholstery foam. It helps cushions look fuller, softens the edges and can make the finished cushion easier to fit into its cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure for sofa foam cushions?

Remove the existing cushion insert where possible and measure the internal width, depth and thickness of the cover rather than relying only on the old foam, which may have compressed over time. Measure carefully in several places and use the smallest consistent dimensions. For help with measuring and refilling, visit our foam cushion refill service.

What foam is best for sofa cushions?

The best foam depends on whether the cushion is used for seating or back support, how firm you want it to feel and how often it is used. Medium- or high-density upholstery foam is commonly chosen for seat cushions, while softer grades may suit back cushions. Compare the available foam grades or contact us for help choosing the most suitable option.

How much does foam cut to size cost?

Prices start from £9.99 with free delivery to Mainland UK addresses. The final price depends on the shape, measurements, foam grade and any optional extras selected. Enter your requirements online to receive an instant VAT-inclusive quote.

How quickly will I receive my foam?

Most orders are dispatched within one working day using a next-working-day courier service. Additional time or delivery charges may apply to some remote postcodes and non-Mainland UK destinations.

Can foam be cut to any shape?

Choose from 22 standard shapes or select Odd Shape for bespoke requirements. For more complex profiles, curves or template-based cutting, send us a clear drawing or physical template so our team can assess the shape before production.

Do you provide foam samples?

Yes. Foam samples are available to help you compare firmness, feel and suitability before placing a larger order. Visit our foam samples page to request the grades you would like to assess.

Is made-to-measure foam returnable?

Made-to-measure foam cannot normally be returned if you change your mind because it is cut to your specifications. This does not affect your statutory rights if the foam is faulty, damaged or not supplied as ordered. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

What if my shape is not listed?

Select Odd Shape if your required foam does not match one of the 22 standard options. For more complex shapes, send us a clear drawing or physical template through our contact page so our team can review the requirements before you order.

Can old foam be reused or recycled?

Some foam offcuts and clean foam may be suitable for reuse or recycling, depending on the material and condition. Before disposing of old foam, check whether it can be reused for padding, packaging or craft projects, or accepted by a local recycling facility.
