Please note:Many pits include a base layer of sheet foam. If applicable, subtract the thickness of this base layer from the overall depth (for example, 0.30m) before calculating. For reference, the base layer typically measures 0.25–0.30m (25–30cm). If you require this foam, please click here.

Gym Pit Foam Blocks & Logs, Supplied & Delivered Across the UK

Gym pit foam is specialist polyurethane foam used to fill landing pits in gymnastics clubs, trampoline parks, skate parks, BMX facilities, parkour gyms and extreme sports venues. Far more than a simple cushioning material, the right gym pit foam is a critical safety component absorbing the energy of falls and landings to protect athletes, beginners and professional competitors alike.

At eFoam, all of our gym pit foam blocks and logs are manufactured to meet strict UK fire retardancy standards and are available with free delivery across mainland UK. Whether you need to fill a brand-new pit or top up an existing one, our free online calculator above takes the guesswork out of ordering, simply enter your pit dimensions, choose your foam grade and piece size, and we will calculate exactly how many pieces you need along with the total cost.

Choosing the Right Foam Grade for Your Pit

Not all foam pits are created equal, and selecting the correct grade of foam is one of the most important decisions you will make. The grade you choose directly affects how long the foam will last, how well it absorbs impact, and how safe it is for your specific application. Using the wrong grade can lead to premature deterioration, compressed foam that loses its cushioning properties, and in the worst cases, a safety risk to users.

We supply four grades of gym pit foam, each colour-coded for easy identification:

High Density (Pale Blue)
Our highest density foam, the Pale Blue grade is designed for the most demanding applications. Ideal for BMX pits, skate parks, motorcycle foam pits and any extreme sports setting where equipment such as bikes, boards and handlebars will be landing at speed and from height. The superior density provides a firmer, more supportive landing and withstands the physical stresses of heavy use far better than lower grade alternatives. If your pit faces daily high-impact use, this is the grade to choose.

Reflex Superior Medium (Pale Pink)
The Pale Pink grade strikes an excellent balance between cushioning comfort and long-term durability. Its high tensile strength makes it particularly well suited to trampoline parks, where users jump from significant heights and the foam must perform consistently over repeated landings. It is also an excellent choice for professional gymnastics clubs where athletes are training advanced skills repeatedly over a long period.

Medium (Pale Green)
A versatile all-round foam grade that performs well across a wide range of gymnastics and recreational settings. The Medium Pale Green grade is popular with gymnastics clubs, leisure centres and training gyms that need dependable, good-quality foam at a sensible price point. It delivers reliable impact absorption for regular use without the premium cost of higher density grades.

Economy (Grey)
Our entry-level foam grade is a cost-effective solution for clubs and facilities working within tighter budgets. Well suited to lower frequency use such as community gymnastics clubs, children's activity centres and recreational facilities, the Economy grade offers reliable cushioning at an accessible price point. It is a practical choice for any setting where the pit sees moderate use and budget is a primary consideration.

Foam Blocks or Logs? Which Shape is Right for You?

We supply gym pit foam in two key shapes: cubes and logs. Both work effectively in foam pits, and the choice between them often comes down to personal preference and the specific dimensions of your pit.

Cubes (15cm / 6” and 20cm / 8”) are the most widely used shape for gymnastics and trampoline pits. The cubic shape allows the pieces to pack together efficiently while still leaving adequate air gaps between them. These gaps are essential, they allow the foam to flex and compress upon impact, distributing the force of a landing across a larger area rather than concentrating it at a single point. Larger 20cm (8 inch) cubes are generally recommended for pits serving adult gymnasts or trampoline park users, while 15cm (6 inch) cubes suit smaller pits or junior facilities.

Logs (50cm x 10cm x 10cm and 60cm x 10cm x 10cm) offer a different packing dynamic. Their elongated shape creates a more interlinked fill, which can be advantageous in certain pit layouts and can help reduce the frequency with which individual pieces migrate to the edges or sink to the bottom of the pit.

How Deep Should a Foam Pit Be?

Depth is one of the most safety-critical factors in foam pit design. Industry guidance in the UK recommends a minimum working depth of approximately 2 metres (6-8 feet) for gymnastics and trampoline pits. This depth provides sufficient foam to absorb the energy of a fall without a user reaching the base of the pit.

Many foam pits also incorporate a base layer of sheet foam, typically 25-30cm (10-12 inches) thick, lining the bottom and sides before the loose cubes or logs are added. We supply this base sheet foam cut to size, so whether you are building a new pit from scratch or relining an existing one, eFoam can provide everything you need in a single order. If your pit includes a base layer, remember to subtract its thickness from your total pit depth before using our calculator above. This ensures you order the correct quantity of loose fill foam.

Do I Need to Replace My Foam?

Gym pit foam does not last forever. Over time, even high-quality polyurethane foam will gradually compress, lose its elasticity and begin to break down into smaller particles. The rate at which this happens depends on the density of the foam, the frequency of use, the average weight of users and whether the pit is used for extreme sports where equipment contacts the foam directly.

Signs that your foam needs replacing include a noticeable reduction in pit depth (as foam has compressed), visible fragmentation of individual pieces, and any reported increase in hard landings. Regular top-ups rather than full replacements, can extend the overall lifespan of your pit and reduce costs over time.

Fire Safety and UK Compliance

All gym pit foam supplied by eFoam meets current UK fire retardancy requirements. Fire safety in sporting and leisure venues is a serious regulatory matter, and it is important that any foam used in a public or commercial setting complies with the appropriate standards. Our foam is tested and manufactured to meet these obligations, giving venue operators and club managers confidence that their pit meets current safety requirements.

If you are unsure which grade or quantity of foam is right for your facility, or if you have a large or bespoke requirement, our team is happy to help. Call us on 0800 0439990 or contact us, we are always glad to talk through your project and ensure you get the right foam at the right price.
